LOS ANGELES – The eastbound 10 Freeway, also known as the Santa Monica Freeway, was closed into the afternoon on Wednesday due to a violent car crash that killed two 30-year-old males. The two victims were each driving their own vehicle when they apparently crashed head on.
Though the investigation is still underway, earlier reports indicate a wrong-way driver may be to blame. The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. near National Boulevard. One car was engulfed in flames backing up traffic for miles and leaving all eastbound and some westbound lanes closed.
California Highway Patrol officers are continuing to investigate the auto accident. The names of the victims have not been released.
