Santa Monica Airport The Scene of a Fatal Plane Crash

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – Shortly after taking off from Santa Monica Airport, a single-engine airplane crashed killing two people on board. The plane left the ground but was experiencing problems and tried to return to the airport. However, the two-seater plane slammed to the ground and burst into flames at the west end of the airfield.

The identities of the victims are still unknown at this time. The plane was a Marchetti SF-260 and was registered to Malibu-based Wingspan Inc.
