When such violations take place, it may be necessary to take legal action in order to insure consequences for the entity responsible. Our attorneys’ knowledge, experience and professional acknowledgements within this practice area make our firm a leader in handling nursing home abuse and neglect cases.
What Constitutes Nursing Home Abuse?
According to California’s Elder Abuse Act, nursing home abuse and neglect is defined as:
“Physical abuse, neglect, abandonment, isolation, abduction, or other treatment with resulting physical harm or pain or mental suffering, or the deprivation by a care custodian…”
Abuse:
Physical abuse, financial abuse, abandonment, isolation, abduction, or other treatment resulting in physical harm, pain or mental suffering.
Neglect:
Includes, but is not limited to failure to provide medical care for physical and mental health needs.
Warning Signs of Abuse – What to Look For
Staying informed and alert is always the first step to detecting and helping a loved one or friend who is suffering from some form of abuse or neglect. Physical abuse in the form of bruises and battered markings can be easier to detect and confirm but neglect and emotional abuse can be more subtle and harder to recognize. Neglect often manifests and is recognized through unconventional medical problems such as bed sores, dehydration, over medication, and many others. We handle all types of nursing home litigation.
