SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Wednesday morning’s rush hour was made much worse when a wrong-way driver caused a serious crash. The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the driver went in the wrong direction on a southbound ramp on Interstate 5 to eastbound state Route 94. The wrong-way driver crashed his vehicle into a Peterbilt truck trailer that was hauling dirt. The California Highway Patrol reported the dirt was contaminated with an unknown substance. The crash caused the truck to flip and spill dirt all over the road. The impact also caused debris to rain down on drivers heading west on Route 94. The accident blocked traffic for hours while the dirt was cleaned off the roadway. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken the hospital.
