According to the latest statistics, 76 Californians have become ill from the outbreak of salmonella bacteria recently found in some peanut butter and peanut butter products. Nationally, more than 630 people became ill from infections caused by the outbreak, the CDC says. Although nine people have died there have been no deaths reported in California thus far.
