Celebrating a Win: The Trial Advocate Award!

Our own William M. Berman, the founding and managing partner of Berman & Riedel, LLP, has been awarded the Outstanding Trial Advocate Award by Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. This is quite an honor as it is presented annually to consumer attorneys who demonstrate outstanding trial advocacy. Mr. Berman humbly received the award in October 2014 at the Trial Stars Dinner in front of an audience of San Diego consumer based personal injury attorneys and legal support staff, family, friends and clients.

Prior to accepting the award, a video montage was presented depicting the successful manner in which Mr. Berman litigated the case. The video included footage of Denise Asher, a well-respected mediator based in San Diego, who commended Mr. Berman on the professional manner in which he handled the sensitive subject matter of the case. The firm’s Associate Attorney who helped assist with handling of the case shared his thoughts on Mr. Berman’s dedication to this case and all cases taken on by the firm. Even the client on whose behalf Mr. Berman successfully litigated this particular personal injury case appeared on camera to express her appreciation and admiration for Mr. Berman’s tireless efforts and his tenacity throughout her case.

During his speech, Mr. Berman stated what an honor it was to work with such a deserving client. He also acknowledged that the Client, who was forced to undergo an emergency C-section after her car was rear ended, was a model citizen that the jury really connected with on an emotional and personal level. This was a very interesting turn of events as in the pre­trial stages of the litigation, defense counsel denied the existence of damages, rejecting Plaintiff’s nominal settlement demand.

Since no settlement agreement could be reached, the case was tried in court where the jury rendered a verdict of over one million dollars.

Attorney William M. Berman shared his appreciation for his client’s willingness to "let a jury decide the nature and extent of her injuries, and award a fair and just award based upon her injuries." Mr. Berman continued, "it is rewarding to see a deserving client get the justice she deserved."
